Trapped in____

In life, We are all lost.
We are all trapped.
We are all alone.

In city, we trap plants.
In landscape, we are trapped by them.
We trap plants and plants trap us.


Big city is another clamorous sea. Modern people are floating and drowning in it. They are lost in the sea named city. They are lost in themselves. Human in city trap plants to be with them. Human-beings are also trapped by themselves, by others. The company of plants make them less lonely. 
The inspiration behind the project, which is based on personal experience in nature, depicts the trapped-trapping relationship between human and plants in modern world. When I was in the woods once, I was out of direction. I was trapped among the woods. Like how we trap plants in city. Woods were with me, but I was still alone. I was isolated and even alienated. I could not hold my eager to bring some of them back. I want to be with them, make them my companions. I want to touch them, the softness of them. Hope they can heal part of me.

人們於這名為城市的汪洋中載浮載沉,此地是如此地混亂與吵雜他們迷失於此也同時迷失了自己居於城市中的人們習慣將植物困於盆中,並以此作伴,他們將這些植物困於生活中的每一處。同時,並不止這些植物被人類所困,人類也被自己、被他人所困,但植物的陪伴多少緩解了他們的孤寂。
此件作品背後想法受感於個人在自然間的體驗,描述了當代人類與植物囚與被囚、困與被困之關係,我迷失於樹林之中,如同我們將植物困於城市之中,我被困於樹林之間,即使這些樹木一直陪伴在我左右,我依然是孤自一人。
在這廣大的樹林之中,我感受被這些無盡的樹木以及植披所囚禁,我獨自佇立於此地,同時我的心也是無比地疏離,但這些植物依然在我身旁。我偷偷地帶了一些植物回來,對此內心有點掙扎,但還是無法抵抗我對於他們陪伴的渴望,渴望他們伴我身旁,同時也期望他們的柔軟可以拯救我的不完整與破碎,或只是掩蓋也好。



The proposal is to curate Sala Project into a modern person’s everyday living space, which is consisted of series of works representing humans’ obsession with plants and the concept of nature. The space will be divided by daily functions, such as worshipping space, dining room, closets, and bedroom. All the works showing in the space are part of everyday lives, which soothe modern people’s nerves and anxiety. Medium of the proposed works is diverse including human scale installation, sculpture, text work, textile etc. All the above mentioned media constructs the living space together, which is the miniature of artificial modern world. 
Furthermore, during the period of exhibition, the work will transform by time. Juicy, tender leaves and stems will be withering, and the green of the plants is going to fade. The audience will be able to witness the fading of the works in the process of exhibition(8 weeks), just like what is happening in the real world softly but toxically. Human and plants seem happily sharing lives together, but the plants trapped in the place are not living properly. They are dying slowly, silently due to the fetish of human.

此件提案將一系列代表人類對於自然/植物的癡迷與執著的日常之物置入於Sala Project,並將展覽場域變身為現代人日常的起居空間(餐廳、臥室、更衣間、神明廳等),作為被人造物充滿的當代縮影,提案內所有的作品皆作為舒緩都市人生活的焦慮而存在,以上包含人體尺度的裝置、雕塑、文字創作與織品創作。
再者,在展覽的兩個月期間,作品將會因為時間的流逝而開始變化,原本柔軟鮮嫩的枝枒與綠葉將漸漸枯萎與消逝。觀者將在展覽期間一日一日地去目睹這些作品的變化,就如同當代社會的現狀,一切都溫和寂靜但卻致命地發生。人類與植物看似愉悅地交織彼此的生命而活著,但受困的植物卻無法適得其所而在無聲中因為人類的私欲而逐漸凋零。
